Abdominal Ultrasonography, and Chest X-Ray Photo
Today was the time we've reserved for ultrasonography and chest X-Ray photo. It was at evening when my father took my mom to do these things. And they gave the results in an hour knowing that it was a cancer case.
I was at home when my mother called me to go there to check the results and if I can understand anything from. In a few minutes I was there and checking the medical terms written in results like a crazy. There were nothing special mentioned in chest photo, but a hypo-echoic area was determined in RLL part of my mother's abdomen. While I was telling my mother that I didn't see anything to worry about, I couldn't resist more and called my mother's oncologist to check with him. I read both written results line by line, and he told me that there shouldn't be anything to worry about.
But I felt something weird when I read about that hypo-echoic part in ultrasonography result. He was like not sure enough. On the other hand I didn't want to discuss any detail with him while my mother was there.
God! I can't wait to get the blood analysis result to take all of them together to oncologist. I guess I should take these results to him as soon as possible! Maybe tomorrow...

Blood Analysis
It was early at morning when I went to take up my mother to go to laboratory for blood analysis. There were not many people there so it was our turn in 10 minutes after we arrived.
As always, we reminded the doctor there that my mother has done mastectomy on her left hand and nothing must be done on that. But the problem was that there were hardly any visible veins on my mother's right hand because of those strong chemotherapy drugs she'd received on that hand. Many of her veins have been obviously destroyed and you could easily see their empty places on my mother's hand :-(
Anyways, he finally managed to find a healthy vein and took some blood from. And they told me that the result will be ready in two weeks (on December 24). We were expecting a shorter period for getting the result, but that's the way it is and we have to wait that long... Sometimes I remember those old bad days when we had to wait for pathology result after my mother's surgeries.

30th and the last session of Radiotherapy – Hormonal Therapy just started!
Today was the final day for all those long and hard treatments for my mother's cancer. Yes, it was the last day for radiotherapy. And I hope that any possibly remained last cancer cells have been DESTROYED by this last dose of strong X-Rays.
My mother was happy to see these hard treatments finally come to an end, but still having some stress for the final analysis result (for checking the treatments' effectiveness). It's a while she's been saying that, she'll feel calm only when she hear about the final analysis result to confirm that she's cancer free! It's a couple of months I've been praying for such a cancer-free day for my mother, and I'm quite sure that especial day is some when near around the corner :-)
Anyways, my mother received the last dose of X-Rays at hospital, said thanks and goodbye to the people and doctors there who have helped her a lot during the radiotherapy period.
Later today we went to see Oncologist as he'd already told us to do. He checked the radiotherapy reports and related documents, and while he was satisfied with the results, he ordered us to go for a blood analysis, abdominal ultrasonography and X-Ray chest photo. This is quite common for confirming the effectiveness of the treatments.
Finally he provided us a prescription for getting the hormonal therapy drugs and start them immediately. The overall period for hormonal therapy will be from 5 to 8 years, but quite easily in compare with chemotherapy and radiotherapy periods. It's just a pill which my mother should take one each day.

28th session of Radiotherapy
It was the 28th session of radiotherapy today and my mother is approaching to the end of treatment period, which makes me quite happy especially that results have been satisfactory so far! :-) The doctor confirmed this as well.
The only major problems are the sore throat, and slowly fading away tear drops. We're having great hope that these side-effects will go away in a near future just like all previous ones, in the way to be cancer-free.
There is one minor issue which is slightly-burnt skin of my mother's chest (at the left side where she's received the rays) and left underarm. But fortunately it's not painful at all, and just the skin color has gone a bit darker. The doctor prescribed an ointment which may be used in the case of pain in those parts. Good to have it, but I hope it never be used.

25th session of Radiotherapy, and still 5 more to go
Today was the 25th session of the radiotherapy treatment for my mother, and she had a great hope for being informed of today as the last session.
But unfortunately the doctor mentioned that my mother would still need the five remaining doses of X-Ray, after recalculating the total amount of X-Ray she's received so far.
Well, a bit sad news, but we’re thinking that it was supposed to be 30 session from day one, and nothing has been changed. My mother has just lost a chance of 1-week-shorter treatment period. I'm trying to think positive about this, while reminding my mother that it's just 5 more to go! She’s already taken the major part.
At end of the day, I pray, pray and pray...
Pray for my mom, please...
